These photographs mostly date from the 1980s, when I was first making serious work. They are taken in and around North Mississippi. There were the Lowe Twins (Eph and Ed) of Lafayette County, surveyors who lived with each other their whole lives. We shared an office actually on the Oxford Square, back when the Square was different. Then there are shots from Clarksdale, including the photo of the FBI posters of the missing Civil Rights workers Schwerner, Cheney, and Goodman, hanging in Aaron Henry's drugstore long after their fates were well known.
